SOS Cup 2009 - Singapore puts up strong squad to win back Sultan of Selangor's Cup trophy

(Media information by Football Association of Singapore)

SINGAPORE, 30 September 2009: A robust Singapore squad, consisting of seasoned players such as Indra Sahdan, Shahril Ishak, Daniel Bennett and Agu Casmir, will front the Singapore challenge for the Sultan of Selangor’s Cup trophy this Sunday.

The Singapore Selection, coached by National Coach Raddy, will also see the return of national goalkeeper Lionel Lewis, who missed the last few international matches due to injuries.

With the current head-to-head record standing at 2-4 to the advantage of the Selangor side, Raddy’s team will not only be raring to regain the trophy, which they last won in 2006 and 2007, but to also claim their spot for the Asian Cup Qualifying match against Thailand in November.

“The Sultan of Selangor is a good opportunity for the national players to prove their worth for future international call-ups,” said Coach Raddy. “With Jiayi out with injuries, we hope that Park will be able to provide the creative spark in midfield and contribute to an exciting match this Sunday for the fans.”

  3. Hi "Taufiq",

That's something coach Raddy would have to live with it, as not longer he can drive around the stadias to catch ALL the players in action.

When Peter Withe just took over as Indonesian coach, one of the grouses he faced was the hassle of flying around the archipelago to see the players in action.

And one thing to note is that so far we have yet to heard coach Raddy on the mass exodus of the Lions to ISL (or I have missed that?)...
