25th Canon Lion City Cup - Announcement of Draw and Schedules

Graced by the presence of distinguished guests with the likes of the British High Commissioner to Singapore alongside with the Dutch and Brazilian ambassadors to the Republic with the German Embassy was represented by their Deputy Head of Mission, the draw and schedules for the upcoming 25th Canon Lion City Cup were decided this afternoon at PARKROYAL, the official hotel of the tournament.

This came about after the unveiling of the teams for the June tournament, which is marking its silver jubilee with the involvement of English side Arsenal, PSV of Holland, Eintracht Frankfurt from Germany and Brazilian club Corinthians.

The hosts, Singapore will be fielding both its NFA U15 and U16 selection for the tournament, widely credited to be the first of its kind when it was first held in 1977.

The Grouping And Schedule
Following the draw conducted by the distinguished guests, the six teams were split into two groups of three as follows.

Group A: Arsenal, NFA U16, Eintracht Frankfurt

Group B: PSV, NFA U16, Corinthians

The 25th Canon Lion City Cup will be held from 8th to 16th of June 2013 at Jalan Besar Stadium with match schedules being depicted in the graphic below.

"I can’t wait for the 25th Canon Lion City Cup to kick-off. As it takes place during the school holidays, we’re expecting fans to fill Jalan Besar Stadium. I believe the different communities in Singapore will get together and support their teams as well."said Mr R Sasikumar, Managing Director of The Red Card Group - the tournament organizers in the media release issued announcing the draw and schedules of the event.

Echoed the views of the former Singapore defender, FAS President Mr Zainudin Nordin said:“We hope to see more fans turn up to support our Cubs as we believe their strong support will spur our boys to give their all against the top youth teams at this premier tournament.”

Meanwhile, Mr Andrew Koh, General Manager of Consumer Business, Canon Singapore, the title-sponsors of the tournament, opined:"We look forward to seeing more of our footballing talent develop their skills through the Canon Lion City Cup and eventually do Singapore proud wherever they ply their trade."

STARHUB - The Official Broadcast Partner
Having broadcast the Canon Lion City Cup matches in 2011, StarHub returns as the Official Broadcast Partner. This year, football fans will be able to catch all 11 matches on SuperSports Arena (StarHub TV Ch 112/201).

In addition, match coverage will be extended to multiple platforms such as tablets and laptops via StarHub’s TV Anywhere service.

TICKET SALES
Tickets for the event will go on sale starting 8 May 2013. Fans will be able to choose from a selection of ticket packages which include Season Passes, Family Packages, Concessionary prices for students and senior citizens, as well as early bird discounts for selected tickets.

The purchase of Open tickets will be available at all AXS machines island-wide, the Ticketbooth website, as well as at all Ticketbooth outlets.

Concession tickets are only available at Ticketbooth outlets where students or senior citizens need to produce their EZ link pass or IDs upon purchase.
