Following his inclusion in the recent SOF-Peter Lim Charity Cup match, almost everyone in the fraternity had been guessing if former Lions captain Indra Sahdan Daud would be called up by the newly appointed national team coach Bernd Stange in their upcoming friendlies against Myanmar and Laos.

Despite announced his retirement from international football in 2010, the 34-year-old has been maintaining his consistency in the S.League by turning out for SAFFC in their Asian Champions League campaign in the same year, before returning to Home United mid of last season after brief stint with NFL side, Keppel Monaco following his release from the Warriors at the end of 2011.

"I am surprised, but happy at the same time for being called up to the national team." said Indra who shared his initial reaction with this blogger upon the release of the national team list.

He added:"I never thought about making a comeback (following the international retirement in 2010), but it's a proud moment to be able to wear the national team jersey again."

When asked what would be his expectation and his role in the team, given his seniority and vast playing experience.

Said the Lion City Cup alumni: "I am not expecting anything, I'm just going to do my part as a team player and try to help the younger players in whatever I could."

According to the media release by the Football Association of Singapore on this evening, the national team will be playing against Myanmar (in Yangon) and Laos (in Vientiane) on June 4 and June 7 respectively.

The Singapore contingency will depart for Yangon on this coming Sunday (2nd of June).
