The word "stability" is probably never exist in the dictionary of the league authority with the latest news that broke out this morning (screen-grab below) that suggested the possibility of 2009's League Cup winners DPMM of Brunei of rejoining the league.
I guess we shouldn't be too surprise of this latest development.
I am not referring to the application of the Brunians, but more of the fact that opaque selection criteria that seems to be flawed.
After all, that perceived "stringent" procedure did result the admission of those Chinese "clubs", Sporting Afrique, etc. with the fans scratching their heads over another round of "musical chairs" sequence.

At this junchure, I sort of accepted that the ppl up there are trully disconnect with the game on the ground, or maybe they have plans but refuse to go public about their direction, either way I don't know. To me the attendance is more important than anything else. Quality of football can be improved all the time so there is no shortage of that. I was at Kelantan last year and I passed by their stadium, it was full house, about 30,000. Kelatan FC might not be very skilled but they are on are seating at the top of the Super League right now, i think.
ReplyDeleteSceptics of S-League - I don't really think their comments have anything to do with football except that it's an easy excuse to comment on quality etc rather than take pride in the league. Cos being proud and watching s-league football is harder to do. They easy way out is critize and not doing anything about it.
That said, I really apprecite all the folks in the S-league business, you guys keep it alive. At least, you all have a sense of nationalism. Critics have no sense of anything.
Seriously, for the development of local football, FAS really needs to stop the nonsenses of admitting foreign teams into S League and Singapore Cup. Not only does the foreign teams are of much superior standard (don't tell me Etoile FC are consider much superior) it also makes our domestic league and cup and worldwide joke with feeders and sub standard teams from overseas!
ReplyDeleteIt would like to see S League going back to the good old days of 1996-2002 when there is no foreign teams. It doesn't matter if there are 12 teams, a 10 teams S League with 4 rounds should be enough.

ReplyDeleteCome on... be honest, will you follow the Sleague if it was 4 rounds with struggling teams of equal standards? Do you even follow it now? I don't but at least i don't go around giving ridiculous comments
