The 7th SGX Cares Bull Charge Charity Futsal tournament made its return after it last took place in 2019 and raised S$111,000 which will be channelled via Community Chest to the beneficiaries namely AWWA Ltd., Autism Association (Singapore), Fei Yue Community Services, HCSA Community Services and Shared Services for Charities.
Held this morning at the Kovan Sports Centre, the charity event was organised under the SGX Cares - the CSR program by the Singapore Exchange (SGX Group).
SGX Cares, the collective name of SGX Group’s CSR pillars of Bull Charge, Outreach and Financial Literacy, aims to create positive impact by activating the power of community. Bull Charge, the flagship fundraising initiative, has raised over S$44 million since 2004 for more than 50 charities and a variety of causes, through the support of corporate sponsors and partners from the international financial community, according to the media statement issued after the said event.
"We are delighted to be back with Bull Charge Charity Futsal, rallying our diverse community for a meaningful day of sportsmanship and inclusivity," said Mr Lee Beng Hong, SGX Cares Bull Charge Organising Chairman.
"We believe that 'Better Happens Together' - with the unwavering commitment of our corporate sponsors and partners, our beneficiaries will continue to be the winners on and off the pitch." added Mr Lee who is also SGX Group's Head of Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities.
Enjoying himself and glad to be part of the event was former Singapore national team skipper Fandi Ahmad who shared his thoughts.
"I enjoy this, and I’m glad to be able to contribute as an ex-player. Thank you, SGX Cares for organising this event and having so many people, even children joining. I hope that we can have more of such events." said the decorated local football legend who played alongside his former teammates such as Nazri Nasir, Malek Awab, etc.
Together with his son Calvert Tay, Mediacorp artiste Zheng Ge Ping also took part in the tournament
Last year’s virtual Charity Run attracted more than 4,000 runners from cities across Southeast Asia, Australia, China, India, Japan, the U.K. and the U.S. over 10 days. Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean will join this year’s physical fundraiser as Guest-of-Honour.

THE EVENT WAS GRACED BY A STELLAR CAST
The event was kicked off by SGX Group Chief Executive Officer Mr Loh Boon Chye and graced by the presence of Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth who was joined by some former Singapore internationals and Mediacorp entertainment artistes, in a fun-filled day that saw 31 teams including all-women’s squads as well as youth players battled it out for a good cause.Minister Edwin Tong together with some of the luminary participants |

"This is not the first I have joined the event and it is a very meaningful charity game. I feel very excited, as the match isn’t easy. The first game is with the management team and it’s very competitive. Overall, it is a successful event. I’ll like to come back again next year." said the veteran actor
19TH BULL CHARGE CHARITY RUN IN NOVEMBER
To round off the SGX Cares fundraising year, the 19th annual Bull Charge Charity Run will be held in a hybrid format, with a virtual run starting on 28 October through to an in-person run that flags off from The Float@Marina Bay on the 11th of November.Last year’s virtual Charity Run attracted more than 4,000 runners from cities across Southeast Asia, Australia, China, India, Japan, the U.K. and the U.S. over 10 days.
