The S.League Selection arrived in Shah Alam with a few changes made in their Sultan of Selangor Cup squad at the eleventh hour prior to their departure from Singapore this morning.

Pulling out from the squad of 18 are Tampines Rovers' Fahrudin Mustafic, Shahdan Sulaiman and Tanjong Pagar United's John Wilkinson with Geylang International's defender Delwinder Singh, Atsushi Shimono and Armanizam Dolah of Woodlands Wellington named as their replacement, according to axrosstheline's report published a day earlier.

Further tweaking in the squad took place before the Selection crossed the Tuas checkpoint when Hanafi Salleh was called up to replace the sole Hougang United representative Azhar Sairudin who dropped out due to injury.

"I was shocked when first told of this call-up after my club training in yesterday morning, as I didn't expect it in the first place," said Hanafi to this blogger after clearing the custom at Tanjung Kupang in Johor.

"I hope to gain more experience from this opportunity with so many senior players involving in this match." added the Tanjong Pagar United defender that made him the fourth Jaguars player called up by the Selection's French coach Patrick Vallee.

A 90-minute workout at the game venue - Stadium Shah Alam was taken place a few hours later following the check-in at their hotel.

It was the first and only training session coach Vallee had with his squad before the game, but the ex-Etoile FC coach is pleased with what he saw.

Speaking to the media after the drills, the Frenchman said:"I like what I saw in the training and I am confident of doing something for tomorrow's game.

"It's also the desire to get the result tomorrow, as we representing Singapore in this game." he added.

Monsef Zerka is expected to fill in the target man role
With the likes of Tampines Rovers' evergreen Aleksandar Duric and Jaguars' marquee signing Monsef Zerka in the squad, it's not hard to wonder if the Selection intend to pin on the two to bang in the goals.

"It's not only about Duric and Monsef, but the 18 of them and I would have to think about it later tonight, as it's not easy to decide who to start." concluding his thoughts before the team finished their session at the 80,000-capacity arena.

For the record, the Selangor Selection won the Cup on a 3-1 scoreline last year that the Singapore side is keen not to make it second on the roll on a losing note.
