As we are entering the month of August, we are witnessing a new chapter in the Singapore football history where the new National Stadium, the cornerstone of the Singapore Sports Hub, is due to see its very first football match to be taking place when Italian powerhouses Juventus FC, the defending Serie A champions are due to take on the Singapore Selection on 18th of August.

With a star-studded lineup that boasted a sizable number of players who starred recently in the World Cup for their respective countries, the likes of established stars such as Carlos Tevez with new signing Patrice Evra will be part of the 28-man I Bianconeri squad led by new manager Massimiliano Allegri in their Asia-Pacific Tour with games in Jakarta and Sydney ahead of the Singapore showdown.

On the other hand, the 21-man "Singapore Selection" (which includes three foreign players plying their trade in the S.League) will be coached by Singapore national coach Bernd Stange, who stated in earlier reports that this upcoming friendly against the Turin side is part of the preparations for the AFF Suzuki Cup, to be held at the end of the year.

"I believe this squad will be able to play the sort of game I want the National Team to play, and it will be a good chance to see where we stand after our recent training tour to Austria where we faced some top European teams,” said the German tactician in an earlier statement."This is going to be a great curtain raiser for football at the new National Stadium and our players are very motivated to put on a good performance. We look forward to the full support of all Singapore fans to make it a great atmosphere and a historic night for all of us to remember."
