Late Release of Fixtures: Confidence Damaged?

S.League CEO Lim Chin (sixth from left) led the fanfare in ION Orchard (picture credit: FAS) This afternoon at the shopping belt along Orchard Road, the league authority put up their best effort, despite the rain, in getting several players and CEO Lim Chin to parade along the stretch in their painted bare top. Due to work, I wasn't there to see how the things proceed, although I was told that there was a delay due to some "traffic mistakes" and can't further comment on this fanfare event that saw the CEO and the players handed out flyers to the shoppers whom they met along the trek. The given-out flyers contained information on the upcoming Charity Shield match on 15 February 2013 and the 12 participating clubs in the Great Eastern YEO’S S.League 2013. Hand-In-Hand in Solidarity (picture credit: FAS) CEO Lim was quoted saying in the official press release following the event that "buzz we created today is very encouraging and we look forward to r

National Training Centre - Distant Dream? No More?

Just to sidetrack a bit, with the recent announcement of the White Paper on the Population Growth , it is likely to see more lands to be used for accommodate the growing population for residential, commercial uses and not much were mentioned for recreational purpose (as what I gathered so far). In fact, several media report s suggested land lease of several existing country clubs would not be extended as the result since those lands that currently having golf courses for recreational purpose on them are likely to make way for the mentioned purpose for "more viable development". Print-screen of Point No.5 - Football Facilities spelled out under the "Strategic Plan" Therefore, for those "hardware" infrastructures listed in the "Strategic Plan" (if all still recall that priceless blueprint of FAS in praising any single achievement by citing having adhere to it), is it something unlikely to materialize after all? I think Farrer Park, for m

Up to Sundram to prove his worth...

The "Dazzler" - V Sundramoorthy was named the interim Lions coach  Let's not kid ourselves here and we know what is really going on, unless you are really out of touch. Don't get me wrong here that while the Lions done us proud in regaining the ASEAN football supremacy last December under tight circumstances, it did not bring us any closer within the likes of South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Japan, etc. At least for now, it will never, given the wide gulf of standard between the South East Asian region and the "big boys" of Asian football. Just like when we beat Malaysia in the pre-World Cup qualifiers play-off and earned us a spot in the group stages that ended empty-handed in the end , it was only the Suzuki Cup victory that restored that bit of respect from the public after months of wilderness coupled with skepticism. Warriors FC to offer more flexibility in engaging with its new identity

"We are the WARRIORS!" The eighth-time S.League champions will be renamed as Warriors Football Club , as announced during the club's outreach program held in this afternoon at Lot One Shopping Center in Choa Chu Kang. The re-branding by the Choa Chu Kang-based club will be the second side to do so prior to the start of 2013 season, after Geylang International (formerly known as Geylang United) did theirs earlier this month. Speaking to the media after the event, club chairman Brigadier General Lam Shiu Tong explained the motive behind the change. Said BG Lam:"SAFFC (as they were formerly known as) had operated since day one and served the S.League well, but the SAF (Singapore Armed Forces) decided that the club should be given more autonomy and decided to drop the words 'SAF' in order to give the club more flexibility to engage with a wider group of stakeholders. "Having said that the club structure remains unchanged, which explains why I am
