| Izwan Mahbud switched to LCS |
💭 A friend of mine asked me about my thoughts on Izwan's signing for the Sailors, the following are some of my thoughts.
👍 On the positive side, it makes the contest for the number one spot more intense which is good, be it on the club or national team (NT) level.
🔄 I would like to think Coach Kim Do-hoon intends to rotate both Hassan Sunny and Izwan, given the packed calendar LCS be having.

⚠️ Having either one of them sit on the bench for too long isn't gonna do any good, given their importance to the NT who have both Asian Cup qualifiers and Suzuki Cup coming up later this year.
🧐 I would think Izwan be staying put at Hougang United where he would have more playing time to allow him to impress whoever is going to be the NT coach.
🐴 In the meantime, there are some quibbles on the ground over the fear of turning the Singapore Premier League into a "one-horse race" with the way LCS doing their things.
💭 I think the onus is with the other clubs to think what way the rest of the league can innovate in other means besides money to complete with Sailors, rather than sit at one corner to lick the wounds.
⚠️ Like one club official once said: "If you aim for mediocrity, you will get mediocre results."
🤔 These are my initial thoughts

TBH if not for the financial muscle of LCS, which team will be able to sign up those players? It's not as if LCS do not hoard them up, these players will sign up for other local teams. Most likely they will be plying their outside Singapore with various teams within ASEAN, some may even be at the lower division. Since LCS will be representing Singapore in the ACL, may as well give them our blessing instead of worrying that they will turn the league into a one horse race.

ReplyDeleteMy two cents.. Pro players only have a lifespan of till mid 30s at best. Some of them after football cant have much so the only best is to play in best team who pays them better salary. Once you are in 30s the best option is to play 2nd fiddle to earn some money after years of hard work. The only problem is singapore football need to revitalised from the core. Open up more division and get in more investors. Get a proper footballing brain person there. Put up case to govt for NS, give option to serve in camp for 6 months or 1 year solid for those who are identified talented players. Those who give problem while serving will have the immunity revoked. For now i support LCS as they are pushing for future. By this hopefully more better investors coming in and help to revitalised singapore football.
