[Event] RELIVE MEMORIES OF 1991 ...

Mr Bernard Tan (standing) opens the session "Ideas For Change" is a new initiative spearheaded by Mr Bernard Tan, vice-president of FAS Provisional Council, and had its first session at NYSI Satellite @ Kallang, it is modeled after the concept of TED Talks where speakers are given ten minutes each to speak on the topic of their choice. Making their presence at this maiden session included the likes of FAS General-Secretary Winston Lee, outgoing S.League CEO Lim Chin, former national players Goh Tat Chuan and Aleksandar Duric, who was one of the nine speakers who took turns to share their views on the local game with the audience. Despite going down in the two matches they play against their much illustrious opponents, many people which included the likes of Stoke City's manager Mark Hughes and his Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger , lauded the performance of the Singapore Selection in the just concluded Barclays Asia Trophy. [Barclays Asia Trophy] It's Toffees vs The Gunners in Final...

The Barclays Asia Trophy will be a battle between Arsenal and Everton on this coming Saturday after cleared their hurdles along the way. The Gunners booked their ticket after shutout the Singapore Selection four goals to none. The Toffees, on the other hand, defeated Stoke City on penalties to confirm theirs after a goal-less outing. This pre-season friendly tournament takes place every two years and is the only Premier League-affiliated competition to be held outside England, the past editions saw the tournament in cities like Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing and Hong Kong (who hosted the event thrice in 2007,2011 and 2013). Past tournaments saw the likes of newly-crowned Premier League champions Chelsea, Newcastle United, Liverpool, Manchester City took on local sides like Kitchee (in 2011) and South China (2013) in Hong Kong, while facing Malaysia national team in 2003 and Thailand U23 national squad in 2005 at Bangkok. Into 2015, as SCC Soccer Sixes marked its seventh year The past weekend saw a football tournament took place on the lush greens of the Padang amid the famed Singapore skyline that overlook the proceedings. Into its seventh year since the competition begun back in 2009, the SCC Soccer Sixes had since established itself as a platform to showcase promising Asian football talent with category cater for the youth, while allowing players in the "Open" and "Masters" (over the age of 35) groups to pit their skills against one another with opponents from various countries. Two pitches were demarcated on the greenery with two matches to play concurrently with a duration of 30 minutes (15 minutes each half) per game.
