[Feature] - Yu En And Fathullah Off To Korea

In an arrangement made possible by their agency Rookbook Sports, Ong Yu En and Fathullah Rahmat will be heading to South Korea for a training stint.

Having impressed the local fraternity with their show of promising potential with their clubs in this season's Singapore Premier League, Tampines Rovers' Yu En and Tanjong Pagar United's Fathullah will have the opportunity to train with South Korean clubs on this one-of-a-kind trip.

During the trip, the duo will train with the senior squad of K-League 2 club Cheonan City, as well as the youth set-ups of K-League 1 sides Incheon United FC and Suwon Samsung Bluewings.

“Having been working in the Singapore footballing landscape, we believe that we’ve identified an area that will be very helpful to players here, especially the younger ones who would benefit the most from overseas experiences such as this." said Vikram Jayakumar, Rookbook’s Director of Management.

"We hope that our Rooks (Fathullah and Yu En) will be able to learn a lot from this experience, and use these as valuable references for their blossoming careers to come.” added Vikram in the media statement announcing this training stint for the two youngsters.

DUO LOOKING FORWARD TO THE TRIP

Relishing the opportunity to interact with Korean footballing legends and pick up valuable nuggets of advice, and experience life as a footballer outside of Singapore, both Yu En and Fathullah are looking forward to the trip to the country that produced likes of Tottenham Hotspur superstar Son Heung-min, etc.

“I’m thrilled and honoured to be given an opportunity to train with top class players in Korea. I will make use of what I have learnt here and bring it back to Singapore, be it in terms of professionalism, or their attitude towards training. I am really looking forward to doing my best here.” said Fathullah in the same media statement.

While it may be a short training trip, Yu En believes the exposure is necessary to prepare him to fuel his hunger to play overseas in the future, especially after having heard from his teammates about the higher standards required to thrive when playing aboard.

"I have always been meaning to test myself against players overseas, so I am really relishing this opportunity presented and I will do my best to learn as much as I can. I still have much to learn in Singapore but staying in Singapore is never the end goal." added the 19-year-old who joined the Stags at the start of the year from Albirex Niigata (Singapore).

The duo will begin their attachment from 26th December 2022 to 5th January 2023.
