Being one of the two representative squads to be competed in the upcoming 25th Canon Lion City Cup, the National Football Academy Under-15 (NFA U15) team departed earlier today to Kuala Lumpur for the Frenz International Cup 2013 for their preparations for the June tournament.

Led by Coach Nazri Nasir, the NFA U15 have scheduled two matches in the tournament in the Malaysian capital that will see they play against Frenz United Malaysia on 26th May and Chonburi FC on the 1st June, in a media release issued this evening.

Said the former Singapore national skipper: “Playing against Frenz United and Chonburi will be a good build-up to the tournament (25th Canon Lion City Cup). It is an opportunity to evaluate the boys one last time before I confirm my 25-man squad,”

“We have a slight advantage this time. We know what to expect from the foreign teams, our boys are more confident because they are used to the raucous atmosphere in Jalan Besar.” added the 1998 Tiger Cup winning captain who had set a semi-finals target for his team in the same release.

The NFA U15 will kick start their Canon Lion City Cup with a showdown against against Corinthians on 8th June before taking on Dutch giants PSV on 10th June.

Meanwhile, the other Singapore representative side - the NFA Under-16 are in Japan for a week-long training tour. The team is set to play against a few youth teams in Japan to prepare for their 25th Canon Lion City Cup as well.
