[Instant Reaction] AFF Suzuki Cup : The first match jittery as always

Catch the match on livestreaming instead on Channel 5

Singapore 1-1 The Philippines
So "first match jittery" does happen whenever we play our first game in any major tournament.

Clearly labelled by many as the clear favourites against the Filipinos, who prior to the opener was thrashed 8-0 by Thai club side Nakhon Pathom, thus it's no wonder the expectation back at home is high as the mood can be sensed in the recent days on the social media platforms.

The lack of the killer-touch upfront is the cause of concern and had to wait until approximately 60th minute to take the lead through Aleksandar Duric, despite having our chances for large part of the game.

While the acres of space that left behind for the Filipinos to graze in their counters should be noted down as well, with perhaps to the killing punch was the lack of marshalling on the right that eventually led to the equalizer.. Damn...

  1. I am an avid fan. I'm really dissapointed by how the lions were not able to master some ball controls and often losing possesion because of it. Not to mention how Singapore weren't able to take their chanves. Often choosing not to shot when the oppurtunity is there. This is certainly motvthe team that defeated Thailand at home last year. Very dissapointed indeed... This year aint the lions' year

  2. Guess Noh Rahman will nt be playing against Myanmar

    Was a disaster against Philippines.

Other than that, the team appear to be gelling well to the new system of pass & move although they need to move it faster so that we get clear chances.

We just need to finish chances now & that mean Agu cld play some part in the next game as was shock he play no part in this one.

  3. still dont understand why u pple constantly put so much hope on singapore football when time and again it fails and constantly cover themselves with all sorts of excuses from the management to the protected players when everyone in the outside world there is a problem in the house lol...just hope they dont make it to the 2nd round just like the u 23s in the Asiad(at least they play tought opponent unlike seniors who can only aim or good enough for south east asia standard).

  4. to anonymous:

it is not about the hype that we are all creating for nothing. but rather, this is our passion and we have the right to do so. yes, u may be right that time and time again the lions may have disappointed us but then again, so many times as well singapore football have given us joy!

just take a look at the lower league english teams which have fervent support but have rarely or even never tasted success. ask yourself why they still continue supporting them. and u will find that the answer is because of passion.

i am here at hanoi watching the lions play because i love them and that is why. no offence to you but i am just reasoning out..
